At Ikkaasaashramsevasociety, we believe that every life is precious and deserves love, care, and dignity. Our mission to serve the needy and homeless often leads us to stories that are both heartbreaking and inspiring. Today, we want to share the story of Tarun, a man in his late 40s or early 50s whose life took a turn for the better because of the collective efforts of our team and the generosity of our supporters.

The Day We Found Tarun
It was a regular day for our team as we were conducting one of our routine outreach programs in Moga, Punjab. We had received a tip from a local about a man in critical condition at a dhaba (roadside eatery) situated on Rauli Road. Without wasting any time, our team rushed to the location. What we found there left us deeply moved and determined to help.
Tarun was lying in a corner of the dhaba, his body frail and weak. His right hand was severely infected, with a wound that had turned into a festering sore. The infection had spread, and it was clear that he needed immediate medical attention. The dhaba owner informed us that Tarun had been staying there for weeks, surviving on scraps of food and the kindness of strangers. He was unable to speak clearly, and his condition was deteriorating rapidly.
The Rescue Mission
Without hesitation, our team decided to bring Tarun back to our shelter. We carefully lifted him into our vehicle, ensuring that his infected hand was handled with utmost care. The journey back to our facility was filled with silence, but our hearts were heavy with the urgency of the situation.
Upon arrival, our medical team immediately assessed Tarun’s condition. The infection in his hand was critical, and it was evident that he had been suffering for weeks, if not months. He was severely malnourished, dehydrated, and in immense pain. Our team worked tirelessly to clean and dress his wound, administer antibiotics, and provide him with the necessary fluids and nutrition.
Tarun’s Journey to Recovery
The first few days were critical. Tarun was too weak to speak, and his body was fighting the infection. Our team stayed by his side, ensuring that he received round-the-clock care. Slowly but surely, we began to see signs of improvement. His wound started to heal, and his strength began to return.
As Tarun regained his strength, he started to open up to us. Though his speech was still unclear, we learned that he had been abandoned by his family years ago and had been living on the streets ever since. He had no one to turn to and no place to call home. The infection in his hand had started as a minor injury, but without proper care, it had turned into a life-threatening condition.
